Accepting these terms
By using the Raawiy app or this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. If you use Raawiy on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how you can have it removed. It forms part of this agreement.
What Raawiy is
Raawiy is a free service for listening to and watching lectures from Islamic scholars, including recorded lectures and live broadcasts. It is a project of Ar-Raawiy Institute in Nigeria.
Raawiy carries the words of the scholars who record and broadcast on it. Views expressed in a lecture belong to the scholar who gave it. We are not a religious authority and do not issue rulings; if you need a ruling on a personal matter, ask a qualified scholar directly.
Your account
You can browse and listen as a guest. Some features — following a scholar, saving bookmarks, keeping your place across devices — need an account.
- Give accurate details when you register, and keep them current.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used it.
- One person, one account. Do not share an account or transfer it to someone else.
- You must be old enough to consent to an online service where you live. Raawiy is not aimed at young children.
Acceptable use
When using Raawiy, please do not:
- break any law, or use Raawiy to help someone else do so
- harass, abuse, threaten or impersonate anyone, including scholars, hosts and other listeners, in questions, comments or live participation
- post or transmit anything unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that incites violence against any person or group
- copy, re-record, redistribute or sell lectures without permission from the scholar and from us — sharing a link is welcome, distributing the file is not
- attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or bypass any limit or access control
- collect data about other users, or use automated tools to scrape the service
- use Raawiy to advertise, solicit or send unsolicited messages
We may remove content or restrict access where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.
Lectures and other content
Lectures, recordings, images, text and the design of the app and site are owned by Ar-Raawiy Institute or by the scholars and contributors who provide them, and are protected by copyright.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to listen to and watch this content for your own use, including offline downloads within the app. That licence does not let you republish, broadcast, sell or make derivative works from it. Downloads are for use inside the app and may become unavailable if a lecture is withdrawn.
If you believe something on Raawiy infringes your rights, contact us at admin@raawiy.com.ng with enough detail to identify the material, and we will look into it.
Broadcasting and other platforms
Scholars and their authorised page administrators can broadcast live through Raawiy. If you broadcast, you confirm you have the right to do so and that your broadcast complies with these terms.
A broadcast may be sent on to other platforms, such as YouTube or Facebook, where the host has connected an account. When that happens:
- the broadcast is also governed by that platform's own terms, which are outside our control
- the host is responsible for holding the rights to the account they connect, and may disconnect it at any time
- we use the access the host grants us only to create and manage broadcasts on their behalf, and never to read or post anything else
- we cannot guarantee delivery to a third-party platform, and an interruption there is not a failure of Raawiy
Live sessions may be recorded and published on Raawiy afterwards. If you take part in a live session — for example by asking a question aloud — your voice and name may form part of that recording.
What you contribute
You keep ownership of the questions, comments, notes and audio you contribute. By contributing, you give us permission to store, reproduce and display that contribution as part of running the service, including within a recording of the session it belongs to. You confirm your contribution is yours to give and does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Private notes and bookmarks are yours and are not published. The privacy policy explains how to delete them.
Availability and changes
Raawiy is offered free of charge and provided as it is. We work to keep it available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, and may withdraw individual lectures at the request of a scholar or where we consider it necessary.
Using Raawiy needs an internet connection. Any data charges from your network operator are yours to pay.
Suspension and ending your account
You may stop using Raawiy at any time and delete your account from within the app, or by contacting us. Deletion is described in the privacy policy.
We may suspend or end access where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, where required by law, or where continuing would put the service or other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
Disclaimers
Raawiy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Content on Raawiy is offered for learning. It is not legal, financial, medical or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified scholar's guidance on your own circumstances.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ar-Raawiy Institute is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profit or opportunity arising from your use of Raawiy.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you use Raawiy from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your own local laws.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and where the change is significant we will give notice in the app. Continuing to use Raawiy after a change means you accept the updated terms.
